There is very good reason to consider the aspect of INSURANCE FRAUD…
Excellent visibility – perfectly calm sea – no vessels close by – the ship had excellent navigation equiment – its components are bristling from the superstructure.
Yet the ship was way off course by 4 (four) miles!
Very many questions need to be addressed.
Why did Captain not give Orders to sound the Abandon Ship Alarm Immediately.
Why did Captain not supervise the Officers?
Was the Captain not first to Abandon Ship?

Friday 13th [January] 2012 – 100 years since “RMS Titanic” went down in 1912
Titanic was way off course and foolishly steaming at FULL Speed when Icebergs were nearby.
Was this company policy?
The Captain [F.E. Smith] bravely stayed on board to the very end – went down with his ship!
But not this Captain of “Costa Concordia” ["Concordia" meaning "Peace" - anything but Peace!]
This Captain was so callous that he tried to abandon ship before passengers. Subsequently arrested for Manslaughter.

Some people have suggested – was this a scam (?) – hard on the heels of the financial scandal.

Sinking a ship for Insurance compensation is not unknown.

Why was the captain drinking – not on the bridge or on call in his cabin – was he trying to forget the magnitude of “Orders” from a higher level…?

Will this be a “whitewash” investigation…?

Questions of blame are now being attributed.

Compensation payable to all the many victims and next of kin who lost so much?

Saturday 14th – Captain Francesco SCHETTINO arrested

114,500 tons 951 feet in length.

Owned by US cruise line Carnival Cruises.

“Costa Concordia” is the 26th largest passenger ship in the World.

oh my… I saw this ship everytime it entered in the port of civitavecchia since I live right there!

I keep wondering about the money and valuables on Concordia, as well. The Casinos, restaurants, bars..the valuables left in all the state rooms and safes..the shops and little stores..seriously. Plenty of unseemly opportunists would venture into thatt tipped ship to get their hands on what’s there.. I’m shocked no one has gotten caught trying to loot, I hate to say. Sad but true. Thanks for posting.
